Electronic Access Control

By being proactive in practising risk management through such things as the implementation of computerised and electronic access systems you are promoting higher levels of security and subsequently peace of mind within your company.
Access control is all about the management and control of people through various access points within your working environment. Access is granted based on positive identification of staff members. Identification can be physical via a biometric characteristic such as a fingerprint, or through the use of a tag or card individually issued to employees.
Benefits of electronic access control systems:
Integration with Time and Attendance solutions – assist with payroll, general employee management, resolution of disputes with hours worked |
Safety of your most valuable resource – your staff, as well as all other people within the building, company property and sensitive information. It also provides a sense of security for staff and management as doors remain locked at all times |
Customisable - Allowing varying levels of access rights |
No unauthorised entries |
Prevention of loss and liability |
Never have to change locks – access rights can be terminated immediately in a card/tag system |
Keep a history of all comings and goings of staff and visitors |
Monitor employee productivity |
Increase employee accountability – can determine staff whereabouts, and staff will more likely be where they are supposed to be |
Card / Tag Access Control
With this system an employee is allowed entry upon the
swiping of their access card, or the placing of their card/tag in close proximity to the access control reader. Each card/tag will contain information particular
to each employee.
This is an affordable way in monitoring staff traffic with far less effort and human interaction as would be required with a guard or a receptionist, especially
if the alternative is lock and key management.
Biometric Access Control
Biometrics is a superior
method of access allowance based on biological characteristics as each individual entering or exiting the building is uniquely
identified. Employees cannot assist their fellow colleagues by “buddy punching” on their behalf. Another advantage is that security cannot be breached or
unnecessary costs encountered with the misplacement of an employee’s identification device. No excuses can be made that cards/tags were mistakenly left at home,
lost, stolen, copied or eaten by the dog.
The convenience in touching a fingerprint scanner means that staff will not be irritated by numerous access controlled areas.
Systems will be configured to meet your access requirements.
Time and Attendance
Is a Time and Attendance system beneficial, will it help save money? Most certainly, YES!
By eliminating issues regarding absenteeism, lateness, leaving early, length of lunch breaks, and “buddy clocking”, there are more effectively utilised minutes
in your employees’ work day. These benefits are maximised through the use of a biometric access control system.
Not only will there be less absenteeism, but absence management will partly assist in an appraisal and performance system.
In addition to the above advantages, other major benefits include:
Integration with human resources and payroll systems which means convenience, fewer procedural steps, reduction in payroll administration and less human errors |
In large organisations where labour laws stipulate maximum number of allowed hours to be worked, these figures can be better governed |
Staff can easily be accounted for in an emergency |
